Some Cool Prisons of the World
Well I’m not quite sure why I’m still awake at this hour (12:53 est) and why I’m blogging, but I am. I came across this cool article on Digg (what a surprise). It’s all the prisons of the world and ranked by deputydog. The most valuable was San Quenton in California. The world’s smallest is Sark Prison in Sark, Gurensia. The most secure, another American prison, is ADX Supermax in Florence, Colorado. The world’s strangest is in San Pedro, Bolivia, “convicts at san pedro in bolivia have to pay rent for a cell and they all have jobs within the prison. a large number have partners and children staying with them and tourists/backpackers are allowed to enter the prison but must be accompanied by a tour guide (a prisoner) for safety reasons (wtf?!). tourists can even stay the night in a cell for a small fee and a large number of them frequent the jail in order to buy cocaine from inmates as it’s apparently the purest and cheapest in Bolivia.”http://deputydog.wordpress.com/2007/06/13/prisons-of-the-world/
Next is the world’s best looking, the honor belongs to leoben justice centre in steiermark, austria. Then of course there is the world’s most famous prison, Alcatraz in California. Last is the most crowded in St. Petersberg, Russia. For some more information you may wish to visit deputydog at his own site, http://deputydog.wordpress.com/2007/06/13/prisons-of-the-world/
Thanks for reading and thanks to deputydog for all the info, it’s truly a great read! ~JAK
