My Firefox Extensions

As I promised in my “Great Firefox Theme” post I’ve compiled my rants about all of my Firefox extensions.

  • First up is Adblock Plus, This allows you to disable ads on every page, it works very well except that it prevents photobucket from working properly but that’s not the end of the world, you can easily disable the plugin from it’s handy dandy icon on your toolbar.
  • Next is Configuration Mania, this add-on allows the user to use a GUI to adjust some of the most commonly adjusted setting in the “about:config” page
  • dAmn XPCOM - this allows you to use deviantART’s chat features, it’s much faster than using their java applet
  • Digg This - Every good Digg.com user needs to be able to submit a page quickly from their browser’s contextual menu, this add-on allows you to do just that.
  • Greasemonkey - this little but extremely powerful add-on is extremely useful, much like Firefox add-ons users are able to write little scripts that run in Greasmonkey, this is different, there are millions of users writing little tid bits of code that can be run by the powerful little add-on. These codes are able to say reorder the digg comment system, or simply rid Myspace of ads.
  • VideoDownloader - This does exactly as it’s name suggests, it allows users to easily download Youtube, Metacafe, iFilm, etc.
  • Last but certainly not least is the Web Developer add-on, it adds a contextual menu and/or a toolbar with tons and tons of useful web developer tools, this add-on is so great I can’t explain, you just simply have to try it.

Well I certainly don’t use a lot of add-ons mainly to keep Firefox’s memory usage to a minimum as I only have a 1gb stick of ram in my mac :[, thanks for reading ~JAK
